Wear your aligners as directed

Although Invisalign® aligners are removable, you must wear them 22-23 hours daily to stay within your treatment projection. Resist the temptation to remove your aligners whenever you feel like it. Only take them out when cleaning your teeth.

Change your aligners when the time is due

Every week you must change your aligners to the next in the set unless otherwise directed. This pattern continues until you achieve the desired outcome per your projected treatment.  

Practice good oral hygiene

Wearing your aligners may increase the chances of harmful bacteria in your mouth.

However, there’s an easy way to fix this. Brush your teeth at least twice daily. Floss your teeth before bedtime and rinse your mouth with mouthwash to keep your mouth clean.

Keep your aligners clean

Although brushing your teeth is great, don’t forget to clean your aligners; otherwise, they can develop a foul smell and stains. Rinse your aligners in warm water, and clean them daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush and the cleaning crystals provided. When not using your aligners, store them in your travel case to protect them from damage and harmful bacteria.

Remember to wear a retainer after treatment

It has taken dedication, hard work, and money to keep your smile straight, so you must do everything possible to keep your results intact. After orthodontic treatment, you will wear a series of Vivera retainers for 24/7 for a full year, then reducing wear time to nighttime indefinitely.
