Canadian Dental Care Plan at We Smile Dentistry: Understanding Your Coverage
At We Smile Dentistry in London, ON, under the expert care of Dr. Giulio Spagnuolo, we understand that navigating the new Canadian Dental Care Plan can be confusing. We’re here to help you maximize your benefits, ensure you receive the quality care you deserve, and understand how to utilize your Canadian Dental Care Plan best.
Canadian Dental Care Plan
The Canadian Dental Care Plan is a government initiative designed to provide essential dental care to millions of Canadians who may otherwise go without. This plan covers a broad spectrum of preventive and restorative services, ensuring that eligible patients have access to necessary treatments. We are proud to support patients covered under the Canadian Dental Care Plan at our office, ensuring they receive high-quality dental care without worrying about financial burdens.
Eligibility
To qualify for the CDCP, you must satisfy the following criteria:
- You have no existing dental insurance coverage
- If you currently have private insurance from another source (work, spouse, etc.) you cannot cancel it to opt into the CDCP plan.
- You have an annual adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
- You must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes
- You have filed your tax return for the previous year

It is important to note that the CDCP does not completely cover the cost of your dental care. The amount of assistance you receive is based on income:

Co-Pay (per CDCP fee guide) |
Balance Pay (difference between ODA fee guide and CDCP assistance) |

0% | 30-35% (approx) |

CDCP assists with approximately 70% of the regular cost of the ODA fee guide. and offers limited options for care.
The CDCP does not provide free dental care. It is a government dental benefit that helps pay a part of the cost of your care. You are responsible for paying the portion that the CDCP plan does not assist with.
